Senior Vice President and Chief Legal Officer
Duties
- Responsible for the overall legal counsel of CHKD, the Foundation and its related entities’ operations.
Background
Day started working in this role in 2019, but has been a key part of the health system's legal services team for some time. From 2006 to 2011, she held the positions of Associate Counsel, Director of Legal Services, and Corporate Compliance Officer.
Prior to rejoining CHKD in 2015, Day worked for over three years at Kaiser Permanente, an integrated managed care delivery system, in support of health plan operations for multiple regions while her husband was stationed in San Diego.
Following her return, Day excelled as Associate General Counsel and Director of Legal Services. As a native of Chesapeake, she began her law career in private practice with Willcox Savage in Norfolk. Her practice areas include general corporate and health law. She is licensed to practice law in Virginia and is also certified in healthcare compliance (CHC).
Education
Day has a B.A. in Psychology from the College of William and Mary and a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.
