Bio

Dr. Janelle Fox, MD, MS-HQSM, FACS is a pediatric urologist at CHKD who has expertise in quality improvement and patient safety.

She received her medical degree at the University of California, San Diego and completed her residency at Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. She also completed a fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.

Before coming to CHKD, Dr. Fox worked at the UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh and also in the United States Navy. Her clinical interests include kidney stones, genitourinary trauma and reconstruction, minimally invasive and robotic surgery, and treatment options for refractory voiding dysfunction.

Dr. Fox enjoys mentoring resident and medical student research and is running an active quality improvement project to improve testicular torsion outcomes in Hampton Roads. She is a reviewer for three pediatric urology journals.

Dr. Fox earned a master’s degree in healthcare quality and safety management from Thomas Jefferson University in 2021. She has held leadership roles on several hospital quality and safety committees since 2015, and presently serves as Chief of the Division of Pediatric Urology for CHKD.

Her family loves the Hampton Roads area, especially her two daughters who are grateful to be back “home.” Dr. Fox also looks forward to continuing to care for the area’s military dependent children in partnership with our local military treatment facilities.

Community Involvement

Dr. Fox is a member of the American Urological Association, Society of Pediatric Urology, Society of Government Service Urologists, and American Society for Quality. She is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Outside of regular work duties, she serves on the Board of Directors of her HOA and as a volunteer surgeon in partnership with Children’s Surgery International, IVUmed, and EVMS Global Health.
