Referral Guidelines
CHKD's pediatric urologists provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical care for urinary and genital disorders in children from birth to age 21. We treat the following:
- Ambiguous genatalia
- Bedwetting
- Bladder exstrophy/epispadias
- Bladder or kidney or utotesal stones
- Circumcision
- Cloacal anomaly
- Detrusor sphincter dyssynergia (DSD)
- Ectopic uterus
- Genital anomalies
- Hematuria
- Hernias
- Hydroceles
- Hypospadis
- Kidney or bladder tumors
- Labial adhesions
- Neurogenic bladder
- Posterior urethral vulvea
- Spina bifida
- Testicular lesions or tumors
- Testicular pain
- Undescended testis
- Urinary Tract Infection (UTI)
- Ureteropelvic junction obstruction (UPJ)
- Varicocele
- Vesicoureteral reflux
- Voiding issues/incontinence
- Ureterocele
- Urethral stricture
- Urethral fistula

Your patient will be seen at the next available appointment. Appointments are triaged by acuity. Urgent appointments will be accommodated within 24 hours or less.
Please send any relevant materials not accessible through CHKD's electronic health records (EHR) such as lab results, radiographs, and other accompanying reports. Some conditions require a pre-consultation workup. Please fax these records to our clinical team at (757) 668-7883.
Your patient will be seen by the provider who is the best match for managing the current condition.
Urology appointments are held at CHKD's main hospital in Norfolk, and CHKD health centers at Concert Drive in Virginia Beach, Oakbrooke in Chesapeake, Oyster Point in Newport News, and Lightfoot in Williamsburg.
