Personal Statement

Taking care of patients with sickle cell disease is my passion. I love the innocence of a young child. As a pediatric nurse practitioner for the comprehensive sickle cell program, I have the opportunity to enjoy the areas I love most.

Bio

Slade started her nursing career as a registered nurse in 1989, with her first position in the Acute Care Center, now referred to as Emergency Medicine.

She was drawn to caring for children with sickle cell disease and several years later joined the sickle cell team. She enjoys caring for and educating patients and families about sickle cell disease.

In 2000, Slade left CHKD to complete her PNP program, returning three years later and working as an RN in the Emergency Department. Soon thereafter, she joined the vascular access team.
