Bio
Dr. Engstrom grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada, where his father served as a soldier in the Army National Guard. As a child, Dr. Engstrom was often seen as a patient at Mike O'Callaghan Federal Hospital at Nellis Air Force Base. He remembered always feeling better after seeing the doctors there, which laid the foundation for his goal to one day provide the same care for children.
Dr. Engstrom specializes in infectious diseases in children, with particular interest in Gram positive bacterial infections. He decided to come to CHKD because his family loves Virginia and the Norfolk area.
Dr. Engstrom is married with four kids in school. Most of his time is spent with the family, but he also enjoys fantasy novels, video games, and ultimate frisbee.
