Bio

Dr. Cardelia grew up in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, a suburb of Philadelphia. His father was a physician, so he was frequently exposed to the medical world. As a lifelong athlete, he was naturally drawn to orthopedics.

Educated at Princeton, Dr. Cardelia currently serves as surgical director of CHKD's Sports Medicine Program and as a staff pediatric orthopedic surgeon at CHKD. His previous professional work experience was as a staff pediatric orthopedic surgeon at Florida Orthopedic Institute and Nemours Children's Clinic in Pensacola, FL.

Dr. Cardelia has helped design state-of-the-art rehabilitation therapy gymnasiums at CHKD health centers. He has also developed clinics for young female athletes focusing on prevention of knee injuries.

Dr. Cardelia serves on the faculty of Eastern Virginia Medical School as assistant professor of orthopedics.

In his free time, Dr. Cardelia loves to golf, surf, and do anything outdoors. He is married with two grown sons. He and his wife also enjoy spending time at the beach with their two Italian waterdogs (Lagotto Romagnolo).
