Referral Guidelines
CHKD's cardiac surgeons provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical care for cardiac disorders in children from birth to age 21. Some of the conditions we treat include:
- Atrial Septal Defect (ASD)
- Mitral Stenosis
- Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA)
- Truncus Arteriosus (TA)
- Vascular anomalies and malformations
- Pulmonary Stenosis
- Pulmonary Atresia (PA)
- Atrioventricular Canal Defect (AV Canal)
- Tetralogy of Fallot
- Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Return
- Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD)
- Coarctation of the Aorta
- Aortic Stenosis
- Generator Change

Your patient will be seen at the earliest appointment available, usually within one week.
Note: Urgent appointments will be accommodated within 24 hours.
Pediatric cardiology work-up to include EKG, echocardiogram, and consultation. The patient should bring any cardiac operative reports, imaging studies, office notes, or other pertinent information from other institutions, not including CHKD, to their appointment. This information can also be faxed in advance to (757) 668-8225.
Your patient will be seen by the provider who is the best match for managing your patient's current condition.
