Whether you need help with baby care, positive discipline techniques, or learning how to talk to teens about social media, Hampton Roads Parenting Education Network (HRPEN) offers a variety of ways for parents and professionals to receive education, information, and support.

To ensure access to comprehensive positive parenting education opportunities that meet the needs of families in Hampton Roads.

What is HRPEN?

Hampton Roads Parenting Education Network (HRPEN) is a network of agencies and organizations that have come together to offer education, support, information and referral for parents, caregivers, and professionals. HRPEN members are committed to established best practices in parenting education and work collaboratively to offer quality programs throughout Hampton Roads.

Levels of Parenting Education

Workshops, Webinars, Classes, Home-visiting and Clinical Services

Choose the level that best fits your circumstances and contact the agency in the drop-down directly. 

Primary Education
For parents, para-professionals and professionals seeking to improve parenting skills and knowledge. Parenting services may include information, referrals, resources, support, classes and workshops. These services and programs are for the general population.

State of Virginia

4 hour co-parenting seminars through VA circuit court
Designed for those in contested child custody, visitation, and child support cases to address effects of separation or divorce on children, parenting and financial responsibilities, and options for conflict resolution - minimum of 4 hours.

Oversight by the PE Coordinator in the office of the Executive Secretary of the Supreme Court of Virginia. These seminars are available in local communities. Virginia Code Sections 16.1-278 and 20-103

Secondary Education

Tertiary Education
Programs are the highest level of parent education and are geared toward parents and guardians who need comprehensive, family-based programs that are longer in duration and include assessment of competency. Families who are involved with tertiary programs are often trying to treat, prevent or reduce recurrence of abuse or neglect.
