  • Break/fix, patient safety, and required maintenance will remain top priorities.

Why Epic?

What applications will Epic replace?

Epic will replace Eclipsys (Allscripts/Altera) for Revenue Cycle, Oracle Health (Cerner) for EHR, and various other third party systems. The system will be a completely new build that will replace the existing Epic system used for Ambulatory Practice Management.

What will this mean for CHKD?

CHKD will be able to adopt industry best practices and workflows to better align our operations and provide advanced capabilities through a single-system strategy.

How will this improve the patient experience?

Epic offers leading digital capabilities for patients and their families through their patient portal and underlying technologies. Capabilities include a single portal providing a comprehensive view for all of their healthcare needs, direct communications with their providers, online scheduling and registration, and a streamlined billing and payment process.

How will this impact CHKD staff in general?

CHKD staff will have fewer systems to learn, streamlined workflows, and more time to focus on their core responsibilities.

Will Epic be implemented systemwide?

Yes, Epic will be a single system supporting CHKD, CMG, CSSG, and CSG.
