The Hampton Roads community considers CHKD to be the premier place for children's healthcare. I am so very grateful to be a part of such a great system.
Bio
Karen Callaway is a nurse practitioner in our Urgent Care center in Chesapeake.
She is originally from Toledo, Ohio, where she attended nursing school. She moved to the Hampton Roads area in 1992 when her husband had a military transfer here.
She became a part of the CHKD family in 1998, working in the emergency department until 2006 when she transferred to the critical care transport team.
Karen attended South University for her master's degree in nursing to become a family nurse practitioner in 2020. She strives to continue learning so she can provide the best, up-to-date care possible.
Karen is married and has three grown children. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, doing needlework, and solving puzzles.
