Bio

Dr. O'Neill's path to becoming a surgeon began when an orthopedic surgeon allowed her to have a cast with pink and purple stripes after a childhood injury.

She wants to bring the same compassion to her surgical treatment of children at CHKD.

Dr. O'Neill is originally from Wisconsin, and graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. She did her general surgery residency at the University of Maryland in Baltimore.

She served as the education chief resident there, responsible for guiding resident education curriculum, and followed that with the post of executive chief resident in her final year of training.

She completed her pediatric surgery fellowship training at the University of Alabama-Birmingham where she developed an interest and skill in single incision laparoscopy.
