CHKD is committed to providing high quality continuing education for pediatric providers and specialists. As the primary pediatric teaching affiliate of Eastern Virginia Medical School, our attending physicians are on the clinical frontier of effectively understanding and treating many pediatric diseases and disorders.

The EVMS Pediatric Residency Program at CHKD has proudly trained excellent pediatricians since 1962, boasting devoted faculty, a diverse community/patient population, and an inclusive environment.

Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship

EVMS Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship

Become a clinical, academic and research expert in pediatric emergency medicine at CHKD, the region's only pediatric Level I trauma center and burn unit in Virginia's only freestanding children's hospital.

Nursing

New Graduate RN Residency Program

CHKD’s New Graduate RN Residency Program supports new nurses with mentorship, clinical training, and evidence-based practice to ease the transition into pediatric and neonatal nursing.

Pharmacy

Pharmacy Residency

CHKD offers a one-year ASHP-accredited postgraduate year one (PGY1) pharmacy residency program. CHKD also offers the opportunity for one of the PGY1 residents to stay on to complete a one-year postgraduate year two (PGY2) pediatric pharmacy residency with an emphasis on pediatric critical care medicine.

Psychology Fellowships

Postdoctoral Fellowships in Clinical Child Psychology

The CHKD Psychiatry and Psychology Division offers up to four fellowship positions. The primary goal is to help fellows develop clinical skills necessary to obtain a position in the pediatric health care setting or university-based training program. Fellows choose from the Pediatric or the Acute and Intensive Services tracks.

Sports Medicine

Sports Physical Therapy Residency Program

CHKD sports physical therapy residency program is a 12-month program designed to develop outstanding clinicians by providing expert level care to the pediatric and adolescent sports population of Hampton Roads.
