Our Mission

The mission of the Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders Center at CHKD is to provide the highest quality of care available.

We are committed to being regional and national leaders in the treatment of children with cancer, sickle cell disease, coagulation disorders and general blood disorders.

Our staff is specially trained to provide comprehensive care to infants, children, adolescents and young adults and to help their families cope with the stress of a child's illness.

The Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders Center (CCBDC) follows more than 500 childhood cancer patients, ranging in age from newborn to mid-20s. On average, more than 70 new cases are diagnosed annually. We also care for more than 500 children with sickle cell disease and nearly 300 children with coagulation disorders. In addition, we follow and provide consultations for hundreds of children with general hematology problems.
