About Us

At General Academic Pediatrics, we take pride in providing an exemplary medical home to all children and have a passionate commitment to helping underserved and medically complex children.

Located within CHKD's Children's Pavilion, General Academic Pediatrics is dedicated to the highest standard of pediatric care. All of our physicians have met stringent requirements set by national certification organizations.

Your child's care will be provided by a pediatrician who specializes in child development and health promotion.

Our primary goal is to provide expert outpatient and inpatient clinical care and to address the physical, emotional, educational, and social needs of our children and their families. We strive to show excellence as academic and clinical teachers, while mentoring residents, medical students, and students of other healthcare disciplines.

The leadership and research skills provided in professional organizations on a local, state, and national level, as well as our community service, challenge General Academic Pediatric faculty and staff to provide the best pediatric healthcare now and in the future.

Understanding Childhood Vaccine Recommendations

Parents likely have many questions regarding the Executive Order dated August 10, 2026, related to childhood vaccines. The Executive Order outlines the Administration’s recommendations regarding childhood vaccines and the role that states, the scientific and medical community, and parents should play in considering revisions to current, evidence-based best practices in administering childhood vaccines.

It is important to understand that the Executive Order does not change law, regulation, or evidence-based guidance that CHKD currently follows, including the number, schedule, timing, or composition of vaccines administered by CHKD pediatricians.

Reading to your child at an early age is important. That's why we participate in the Reach Out and Read program, offering age-appropriate books to children up to 5 years of age at each well-child visit.

Each CHKD medical group practice is recognized by the National Committee on Quality Assurance (NCQA) as a patient-centered medical home for our patients. Medical home standards emphasize the use of a patient-centered system of care that supports wellness, communication, patient involvement, and coordinated access to all services.
