Urgent Care Just for Kids
Whether it’s a sudden illness or an on-field injury, our CHKD Urgent Care providers are ready to take care of your child.
CHKD Urgent Care centers are staffed by board-certified pediatricians, pediatric nurses, and pediatric-trained nurse practitioners and physician assistants who work all day, every day, with children. We take care of all kids, from birth to a child's 21st birthday, and offer X-ray and lab services on site.
We provide skilled, convenient, and affordable healthcare just for kids and teens. Walk-ins are welcome, but we encourage you to save time by checking wait times and saving your spot online before heading out. Most insurances are accepted.
If your child experiences a life-threatening emergency, call 911. But for everything else that can’t wait until tomorrow, turn to the experts at CHKD Urgent Care.

Please Note: An arrival time is not the same as a set appointment time. You may still have to wait when you arrive because a child with a more serious condition may be seen before your child.

RSV Testing No Longer Available
The RSV test is not medically necessary, and the results do not impact the management of patient care. Often, RSV test results can be misleading. For example, a negative RSV result is falsely reassuring and should not automatically be interpreted as the child does not have a contagious illness. It is very likely that they do have one of the other respiratory viruses, such as rhinovirus, adenovirus, influenza, human metapneumovirus or several other viruses, all of which are circulating in our community at this time of year, and require only symptomatic care. In addition, a positive RSV test does not indicate what stage of the illness the child is in and if they are still contagious.
Due to an increase in daycare provider requests that a child be tested for RSV, it is CHKD’s recommendation that other clinical criteria be used to determine when a child is safe to return to daycare, such as absence of fever, improvement in frequency of cough, overall appearance, etc. This path of treatment has been proven to be much more reliable than the results of the RSV test.
For more information, ask your CHKD provider.

We stitch most cuts. For more serious injuries, our urgent care providers can advise on whether or not your child's laceration would be best handled in the emergency department at our main hospital.

Our staff will inform you how to arrange a follow-up appointment with one of our orthopedic surgeons.
